The tension was high as the Tigers came roaring back at home to fend off the ALCS hopeful A’s, 8-6, and send the series back to Oakland for Game 5 Thursday.
It’s been the story of the 8th inning this postseason, as tonight’s go ahead lead can be credited to the wild pitch of A’s pitcher, Anderson, and Tigers second baseman, Infante’s left field double with the bases loaded to secure their lead and give the crowd a bit of a breather.
As they say, “it ain’t over till the fat lady sings,” as here came Oakland at the top of the ninth, giving Detroit no reason to take a water break bringing the Tiger lead again within two. It wasn’t until Benoit’s close out strikeout that officially put the lights out on the A’s last minute comeback.
Tune in Thursday to catch the decisive and thrilling Game 5!
