With their backs against the wall on the road in St. Louis, the Dodgers knew what they had to do to keep their World Series hopes alive, however just the opposite happened come the third inning.
After an 11 pitch at bat, Matt Carpenter saw the one he wanted, hitting a line drive double to open up what turned into a merry-go-round Cardinals rally to put 4 runs on the board in the 3rd.
Stunning the Dodgers, rookie pitcher Michael Wacha finished the series throwing 13 and 2/3 scoreless innings, as his team let the boys and blue feel the Cardinal fire, offensively adding on hit after hit in a 9-0 World Series advancing win.
The injured and jaded Dodgers were feeling the pain, as the errors piled on, making their season finale one they would hope to be soon be forgotten.
Game 1 of the World Series starts Wednesday as the Cardinals now await their opponent between the Tigers and Red Sox, and look to bring home their third World Series title since 2006, winning their last just two years ago in 2011.
