The Cards found themselves quickly down and out on the road in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series, as bad throws and continuous sloppy defensive play lead to an explosive offensive day for the Sox as they coasted 8-1 to grab the first win towards the title.
All-star Cardinals right fielder, Carlos Beltran, left the game Wednesday night after a David Ortiz grand slam saving catch due to enduring a bruised rib injury. His return for tomorrow night’s Game 2 is questionable, as he is on a day by day basis.
The Red Sox, on the other hand, couldn’t have had a better night at the plate as Mike Napoli and David Ortiz each racked up 3 RBI’s alone; after Ortiz hit a two-run homer, in addition to Napoli knocking in a three-run double in the first inning.
It was quite the night at Fenway Park.
Game 2 starts tomorrow at 8:07 ET/5:07 Pacific in Boston as the Cardinals look to strike back and even the series.
