It was rivalry week in College Football, as the tension was high throughout all conferences Saturday!
Long time in-state rivals, the Michigan Wolverines traveled to East Lansing as they faced the 7-1 Michigan State Spartans in what was to be another Big Ten battle to remember. However, thanks to the defense of the boys in green and a solid offensive day for their quarterback, Connor Cook, the Spartans were able to hold Michigan to just 6 points, 7 sacks, and a staggering minus 48 points- the worst in Wolverine history.
Michigan State’s 29-6 W Saturday improves their 2013 season record to 7-1 and remain undefeated in their Big Ten conference.
The Ohio State Buckeyes put the “D” in dismantle Saturday, as they did just that to defeat the Purdue Boilermakers 56-0 on the road and improve to 9-0, as well as the nation’s longest winning streak being 21 games straight. Buckeyes quarterback, Braxton Miller, played a key role in the W as he was 19 for 23, throwing for 233 yards and 4 TDs.
The #20 UCLA Bruins back at home and in need of a win after consecutive losses bounced back to defeated the unranked and visiting Colorado Buffaloes 45-20 Saturday night. Dynamic duo, quarterback Brett Hundley and receiver Devin Fuller, lead the way for the Bruins as Hundley threw for 273 yards and 2 TDs and Fuller racking in 3 receptions for 99 yards and 2 TDs of his own.
In perhaps the most anticipated game of the year so far, long time rivals, the #7 Miami Hurricanes and the #3 Florida State Seminoles faced off Saturday night in a battle of the top 10. While remaining a close contest through the first half, Seminoles quarterback, Jameis Winston overcame throwing 2 interceptions, throwing for 325 yards in addition to Devonta Freeman’s 81 yards and 2 rushing TDs, as Florida State happily handed Miami its first loss of the season with a 41-14 W at home.
