After ranking Kobe Bryant 6th amongst the best players in the NBA last year, with an impressive resume averaging 27.3 points per game and racking in another 6 in both the rebound and assists departments, this year’s results have come to be a bit of a surprise…to say the least.

The 2013 NBA Rankings came in today and have placed the 5 time NBA champ at number 25 on the list, behind players such as point guard John Wall, center Joakim Noah, Indiana Pacer Roy Hibbert, and Miami Heat power forward Chris Bosh. Bryant having suffered an injury to his Achilles heel and undergoing surgery in April causes those in and around the league to believe the 35-year old veteran will have hard time coming back into his old ways or success at all, but the Mamba feels otherwise.

In an interview he said so himself, he knows the clock is ticking and his time in the league in running thin, but he has never been one to give in to the commotion of what one or many may say about his abilities.

The 15-time All-star stated, “We all have self-doubt. You don’t deny it, but you also don’t capitulate to it. You embrace it. You rise above it.”

The time table of his exact return is questionable, but his ability to perform shall never be and surely after he hears the news of his recent ranking, it will be nothing more than added motivation.

The Lakers face their flip court rival Clippers opening night, Tuesday October 29th at 7:30 Pacific time.
