Tension was high, as the boys in blue entered elimination Game 5 at home against the World Series hungry St. Louis Cardinals…however, with Gonzo ready to swing and Greinke on the mound, this would be no free meal.
The day’s sun brought out the shine in the home team as the game’s progress matched the effort of its players. Puig and Uribe single here, Greinke single there, and then BAM here came the homeruns!
Gonzalez started the rally as he knocked the first one out to right in the third, followed by Crawford’s to right in the fifth, AJ Ellis to left in the 7th, and Gonzalez going for his second of the day in the 8th to cap their 6-4 win in a desperation Game 5.
The series heads back to St. Louis Friday for Game 6 at 8:30 ET/ 5:30 Pacific!
