Leaving nothing to question, the Red Sox take games 4 and 5 in St. Louis as they head home for Game 6, in hopes to close out the series and win their 8th World Series title.
Lester delivered again for his fellow bearded brothers, as he allowed only a single run, striking out 7 hopeful Cardinal batters.
“The fact is we’re going home,” manager John Farrell said. “Going back to a place that our guys love to play in, in front of our fans. This atmosphere here, these three games, has been phenomenal. We know it’s going to be equal to that, if not better. And we’re excited about going home in the position we are.”
Game 3 starts Wednesday night at 8:07 ET/5:07 Pacific in Boston at Fenway with Lackey on the mound for the Sox looking to shutout the unstoppable play of youngster Michael Wacha, who looks to again be “the almighty man on the mound” for his Cardinals in desperate need of a win to stays in series contention.
