Now becoming the notorious kryptonite to the “Duck Dynasty”, the Cardinal of Stanford again put to rest the hopes of a national championship game for Oregon as they defeated the #3 Ducks at home Thursday night in a 26-20 thriller.
To the surprise of many however, this Top Ten and Pac 12 highly anticipated match up, didn’t become a thriller until late in the fourth quarter after the almighty Ducks had been shut out and found themselves down 26-0 with time quickly elapsing. Despite sophomore Oregon quarterback, Marcus Mariota, throwing for 250 yards and 2 TDs to pull his team within 6 in the final minutes of the game, it couldn’t withstand the tremendous play of the defending home team.
It was a dramatic game to say the least- blocked field goals, onside kicks, and recovered fumbles to put the cap on a such a night that left the once undefeated Oregon Ducks having nothing to quack about on their trip back to Eugene.
