The Shake N Blake, Lakers Edge Rockets With Last Second Shot

3…2…1… Blake over Howard… it’s good! The Lakers sneak out of Houston 99-98 to grab their third win of the season and improve their record to 500 heading into a second of a back to back road trip tomorrow night in New Orleans.

Still without their veteran Bryant, Steve Blake had no problem fulfilling his game winning shot duties as his curl around three point jumper silenced more than the crowd in Houston Thursday night. Facing ex-teammate, Dwight Howard, behind a new, younger look Laker squad for the first time this season was the ingredient for quite the “edge of your seat” caliber matchup.

Former #3 pick in the 2009 draft out of ASU, James Harden, gave meaning to the “fear the beard” signs displayed by fans in the arena, as he was on fire scoring 35 points with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Small forward, Chandler Parsons, also made his presence known for the Rockets, tacking on 16 points and 3 rebounds.

Despite eliminating the double digit Laker lead due to their strong offensive push, the all around scoring by Los Angeles and clutch bench play was the ultimate spark for their much needed road win.

The Lakers are back at it again tomorrow night in New Orleans to face the Pelicans at 8pm ET/ 5pm Pacific.

Stay tuned for more, this is Point Blank Sports!
