After the Sox made a statement in Game 1, blowing out the Cardinals 8-1 at Fenway Park, the man of the post season, young Michael Wacha, stepped to the mound in Game 2 to save the day again and even the series for St. Louis before heading home for games 3 and 4 starting Saturday night.
Wacha threw for 6 strikeouts before his scoreless 18 and 2/3 innings was ended by two earned runs put on the board by the home team. However, the injured right fielder, Carlos Beltran, pain killer and all pushed through the pain and came up big for his team in need of a road win as he hit a RBI single to right in the 7th to make make it 4-2 and the final score.
The Cards look to now take the lead in this 2013 World Series, as they head home and will be throwing out the first pitch with Kelly on the mound against Peavy for the Sox tonight at 8:07 ET/ 5:07 Pacific.
