After a sensational run- with matchup stats combined to make for double digit strikeouts, a completed game, and an even bolder statement- unfortunately her time in the LLWS tournament was cut short this August after a loss, Saturday, to the all-mighty and resilient boys of the Jackie Robinson West team from Chicago, Illinois.

However, her entrance and exit from the tournament is one that will never be forgotten… nor did she walk away without a few thousand more Twitter and Instagram followers.

Quickly having become one of the most “hashtagged” and talked about people in the world, let alone the country, Mo’Ne Davis made history also becoming the youngest athlete to ever be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine and amongst the few African American female athletes to make the cover…and she is just 13 years old.

What’s next for the 13-year old, honor student, and LLWS breakout star? Despite her incredible and seemingly natural baseball talent, Davis hopes to one day become a professional basketball player in the WNBA.

After watching her become an instant phenom in the tournament, we’ll again be cheering, now courtside, to watch her continue making history and defying the odds.

Stay tuned for more, this is Point Blank Sports.
